Beth Lucas

A native North Carolinian, Charlotte Latin’s Director of Human Resources Beth Cox Lucas attended an independent school in Winston-Salem. Beth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management - Human Resources from UNC Greensboro, a Master of Liberal Arts (ALM) in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Harvard University Extension School, and two additional graduate certificates from Harvard in Human Behavior and Equity, Diversity, Belonging, and Inclusion.

Before joining Charlotte Latin in 2014, Beth held the position of VP of Human Resources at Market America in Greensboro and the Director of Human Resources at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, where she also taught a Human Resources Management course in the Design & Production Graduate Program, and various roles in Human Resources at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Beth leads a department of four, and together, they provide resources, guidance, and assistance to 350+ faculty and staff and over 250 seasonal employees in athletics, substitute teaching, and summer and temporary employment. Her professional experiences and accomplishments are vast, and her certifications include Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Certified Practitioner in Emotional Intelligence EQ-i 2.0, 360, and Selection, Certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Practitioner, and a Trained Mediator.

Beth and her husband Charlie (a Latin alumnus) are parents to Nicholas, who attends Charlotte Latin School, and her three stepchildren—Sophie, Hardin, and Pearse. If Beth is not spending time with family (or at work), you will find her on her horse, Razz, a Hanoverian dressage horse.
