Professional Bio
Dave Michelman received his bachelor's degree in English from Hamilton College. He then went on to George Washington University, where he received his Juris Doctorate. Dave came to Duke School after being the head of school at Chesapeake Academy for seven years. Prior to this, he was at the Flint Hill School; during his ten-year stay, he spent time as the middle school head as well as the lower school head. He has also spent seven years teaching middle and high school. Dave has presented at a number of conferences, including the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools, the Elementary School Head's Association (ESHA), the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, and the Association of Independent Maryland Schools. Dave is also on the steering committee for the Mission Skills Assessment (MSA) test, and serves on the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) board. He is married with two children, a son and a daughter. Dave is an avid tennis player and had a run in the intercollegiate bridge championships.
